Shirley Cupp Obituary

Shirley Annette Cupp, of the Edgewood community, peacefully passed away on April 17, 2024, in Grand Saline, Texas, at the age of 88. Born on September 23, 1935, in Rockwall, Texas, she was the beloved daughter of Jessie Hubert Cain and Estelle Lillard Cain.

Shirley's life was marked by profound dedication to her family, her work, and her faith. She was a cherished member of the Edgewood community for over four decades. Her journey in life was shared with two loving husbands: she was preceded in death by her first husband, Johnie Hall, and later found joy and companionship with Danny Cupp, whom she married on April 6, 1984, who also preceded her in death.

Professionally, Shirley dedicated over 37 years to Dallas Light & Power, later known as TXU and Oncor, where she served as a supervisor in customer service. She also worked for Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home as a visitation attendant for many years. Beyond her career, Shirley's service extended to her involvement in childcare with the Texas Baptist Ministry Disaster Group, where she touched the lives of many with her kindness and compassion.

Shirley's faith was the cornerstone of her life, and she was an active member of First Baptist Church in Edgewood.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jessie Hubert Cain and Estelle Lillard Cain; first husband, Johnie Hall; second husband, Danny Cupp; siblings, Jessie Kirksey, Thelma Tucker, Lola Faye Phillips, Billy Smith, Ted Cain and Houston Cain.

Shirley will forever be remembered for her love and devotion to her family. She is survived by her son Terry Hall and wife Gaile of Edgewood, Texas; step-son Danny Steven Cupp and wife Kathy of Mesquite, Texas; step-daughter Terry Lynn Adams and husband Chuck of Italy, Texas; grandchildren, Toby Adams, Misty Adams Drain and husband Jason, Daniel Cupp, Erin Parker, Amy Hagan, Jaime Malouf and husband Craig, Terry Hall, Jr. and wife Annie, Stacey Towns and husband Rob; numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; her sister Nell Samples of Rockwall, Texas.

A celebration of Shirley's life will be held on Monday, April 22, 2024, at 12:00 PM at First Baptist Church in Edgewood, Texas, followed by burial at Rest Haven Memorial Park in Rockwall at 3:00 PM. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
